19th Century French Louis XVI Style Fruitwood Tub Chair, Newly Upholstered
$4,500
A graceful 19th-century French Louis XVI style tub chair crafted in warm-toned fruitwood and newly upholstered in a neutral linen fabric. The chair has a beautifully balanced, enveloping form, with a curved upholstered back flowing seamlessly into the arms and creating an intimate, comfortable seat.
The exposed fruitwood frame is finely detailed without being overly ornate. Carved floral rosettes decorate the corner blocks above slender fluted and tapered legs, while delicate carved bands add subtle ornament to the legs. The mellow color and naturally aged patina of the fruitwood bring warmth to the chair’s elegant neoclassical lines.
New upholstery gives the chair a fresh and highly usable character while respecting its period form. The neutral linen is finished with self-welting and individually upholstered panels that emphasize the graceful construction of the curved back.
An appealing occasional chair for a bedroom, dressing room or living space, its compact proportions also make it particularly useful beside a fireplace or paired with a small side table in a reading corner.
