An English mahogany hall table from the 19th century, featuring a tall, slender silhouette and a particularly compact footprint. The upper section is designed with an open compartment surmounted by a narrow shelf and shaped gallery. Gracefully curved sides rise toward the scalloped back, adding a decorative note to the otherwise restrained design.
Below, the rectangular surface displays the warm color and attractive figuring of the mahogany. A single shallow drawer fitted with a small brass pull provides convenient storage for keys and other small necessities. The table is raised on four long, straight legs joined by a lower shelf, its concave front edge introducing a subtle curve to the linear base.
The mahogany has developed a warm, varied patina, with particularly attractive grain visible along the sides of the upper section.
