A French faux bamboo mirror dating to circa 1900, featuring a bleached and lightly distressed finish that gives the piece a soft, sun-washed character. The frame is composed of bamboo-form rails accented by turned nodes and distinctive angled corner terminals, creating an architectural silhouette with subtle sculptural presence.
Originally inspired by the popularity of bamboo furnishings and Japonisme during the late 19th century, faux bamboo mirrors such as this became favored decorative accents in both refined city interiors and more relaxed country houses.
