An Italian midcentury Empire style painted bench with carved ram heads and new upholstery. This exquisite Italian painted bench features a nicely curved seat that has been recovered with a simple linen upholstery, secured with a brass nailhead trim. Attracting all the attention, the armrests are skilfully carved with ram heads, connected two by two with a spindle-shaped stretcher. The stool is raised on a base whose curved lines are inverted compared to the arms, in a manner showing the influence of the Roman antiquity. The feet are quite discreetly carved in the shape of hooves. The painted finish is made of an antique white color that gives a charming lightness to the ensemble. With its elegant lines and beautifully carved décor, this Italian Empire style bench, circa 1970, will enliven any space beautifully, from a bedroom to a living room.
