Set of Four American Carved Wood Deer Panels with Antlers, circa 1940

A charming set of four American carved wood deer panels from around 1940, each one shaped by hand with that slightly naïve, folk-leaning confidence that mid-century regional carving does so well. The deer are shown resting in woodland settings, their bodies rendered in low relief while the heads project outward in fuller volume, giving each panel a surprising sculptural presence.
