French 19th Century Fruitwood Tilt-Top Vendange Wine-Tasting Table

A French tilt-top wine-tasting table, or table de vendange, crafted in fruitwood during the 19th century. Its generously scaled, nearly circular top is constructed from broad planks displaying warm honey-brown coloring, varied grain and a richly worn surface. The top pivots upward into a vertical position, a practical feature traditionally allowing the table to be stored compactly when not in use.

When opened, the tabletop rests upon a simple trestle base composed of upright supports, a horizontal stretcher and shaped splayed feet. Wooden pegs and straightforward joinery contribute to the table’s appealing French country character. The underside retains its structural battens and shows evidence of old reinforcement and continued use.

Measuring 51 inches wide and 46.75 inches deep, the table comfortably functions as an intimate dining or breakfast table while retaining the rustic presence associated with traditional vineyard furniture.
